Come Home to Chiltern 2016

Chiltern North East Victoria AustraliaWelcome to Chiltern Australia

Chiltern is a fascinating historic village, built upon the solid values of its mining heritage. It’s distinguished by carefully preserved streetscapes with historic brick buildings and wooden verandahs.

The miners’ cottages, Athenaeum Museum and Dow’s Pharmacy tell the story of our early pioneers; their struggles and their joys shared by a community with the pioneer vision to become what Chiltern is today – a peaceful, country town nestling in the hills of the spectacular surrounding National Parkland.

Visitors to Chiltern will experience the nostalgia of the past with all the benefits of good, old fashioned hospitality and warmth.

“Witness the parkland awash in the gold and mauve hue of the wild orchids, lilies and the golden wattle, or explore the historic buildings under shady verandahs, whilst enjoying the old world charm and hospitality of Chiltern.” – Chiltern resident

Celebrating our Living Landscape

Master classes on Saturday will tell the story of Chiltern and its environs while there are bush walks and night walks to suit all abilities. There will be live entertainment that night and visitors will be invited to sample some of the new eateries helping to make Chiltern a ‘foodies’ destination in north east Victoria. And if you think you know Chiltern... think again and book a Lantern Tour through our glorious past.

There will be activities galore in Martin Park including a petting zoo for the youngest members of the family... a brass band in the sound shell... displays of traditional trades... and many other exciting things to see and do. There are excellent opportunities still available for stall holders!
